Document checklist

Construction subcontractors: what lenders usually ask for

We'll tell you which documents the lender needs before anything is sent. This list is the usual starting point.

Every case

  • Your signed engagement letter, which includes the proposal form. We send it to you after the first call.
  • Bank statements: usually the last 6 to 7 months. Some lenders ask for 3 or 12 months. We'll confirm the period for the lender we approach.

Invoice finance for completed work

Invoices must be for completed work. We don't arrange funding against applications for payment or retentions.

  • An invoice finance fact-find. We send it to you.
  • Your last filed accounts.
  • An aged debtors report: who owes you what, and for how long.
  • Your existing agreement, if you're moving from another provider.

The fact-find asks about

  • Your largest customers, and whether they raise purchase orders.
  • How long a job takes, and when you invoice.
  • Any staged payments.
  • Your top debtors, their payment terms and how long they take to pay.
  • Bad debts and credit insurance.
  • Your sales ledger software, and any current invoice finance provider.

Plant and machinery finance

  • Details of the plant or machinery you're buying or refinancing.
  • Your latest filed accounts, plus any more recent management accounts.

Not on this list

We don't ask for bank statements, home addresses or dates of birth on the website.

Lenders may ask for details of directors and shareholders later. We'll tell you what, and why, before anything is collected.
